Dear Sir/Madam
As a subscriber of Coral Magazine I wish to express my strongets protest against the new digital publishing system.
The former system, based on standards compliant HTML5, was really excellent. Now, as I feared when I saw the launch of the new "Amazonas" magazine, I have seen that Coral has switched to a non standard compliant, Flash based platform.
This is really outrageous. Flash is on its way out, and even Adobe has expressed that they have no intention to further evolve Flash for mobile devices. Flash requires flaky software, full of extremely serious security vulnerabilities, and to add insult to injury it is a serious threat to privacy, allowing all sort of tracking tricks used extensively by advertisers. And it severly compromises battery life on mobile devices. That's why I deleted the Flash plugin from my computers long ago.
It's a real shame, as Coral is (or used to be, I've heard there are new editors) a really outstanding publication. But basing it on Flash, when many services formerly relying on Flash are switching to HTML5 (or they have already switched) is unacceptable.
Yours sincerely,
Borja Marcos.
